Francesco Tocchini, better known by his stage name DJ Squalus, is a rising star in the world of EDM. Hailing from Valdarno, Italy, DJ Squalus has quickly made a name for himself as a skilled producer and DJ, known for his infectious beats and electrifying performances.
Despite being a veteran DJ, DJ Squalus only began producing EDM in 2018. Since then, his music has taken the international dance scene by storm, with his hits dominating the charts and playlists worldwide. For DJ Squalus, music production is more than just a career, it’s a way of life. He takes pride in entertaining and moving crowds with his infectious beats, and his passion for EDM shines through in every track he creates.
Inspired by the legendary Swedish House Mafia, DJ Squalus’s music is heavily influenced by the iconic trio and the unique styles of each individual artist. With his infectious energy and undeniable talent, DJ Squalus is a force to be reckoned with in the EDM world.
Tell us a little about how you got started producing music. Who are some of your influences?
I started falling in love with DJs and electronic music from an early age. When I was 7 years old I saw a DJ battle show on television, and I was really impressed by what they did with those instruments that I didn’t even know what they were at the time. From there I developed an increasingly strong passion and interest. At the age of 14, I became a DJ and at the age of 20, I started studying (self-taught) to become a producer. In 2018 I started releasing music. I produce and play all kinds of EDM music, but I have an absolute preference for Progressive House music and Hardstyle. A source of inspiration has always been the Swedish House Mafia, and individually Axwell.
Tell us about your latest release ‘Happiness’ what was your inspiration behind this track?
Introducing “Happiness” a melodic Future Bass production that will take you on a journey of love and joy. My new song is dedicated to celebrating the most beautiful feeling in the world – love. Whether you’re in a relationship or single, this track will remind you of the beauty of true happiness. With its enchanting melodies and groovy beats, this production is a tribute to the magic of love and the beauty of being Happy. The uplifting rhythms and mesmerizing basslines will keep you on your toes and leave you feeling invigorated. Join me as we take you on a musical adventure that explores the depths of love and its many wonders. Do you have more projects on the way, if so when can we expect them?
I have many plans for the future and the present. I’m closing some deals for releases with big international labels, but I will update you in due course. I can confirm for now that one of my Progressive House tracks is expected to be released shortly with the BlancoyNegro label. I also started a stable collaboration with FoRmAT_G (Giorgio Scuticchio) an Italian producer like me, who expects great things.
If you could collaborate with any artist or producer in the world, whom would it be and why?
If I could fulfill the dream of collaborating with an artist of my choice, it would surely be Axwell. In my Progressive & House productions, I always try to be inspired by him. He’s like a God to me, a God of House music. For me, He is on another level than all other Producers and DJs. Hearing him play live is something unique. Indescribable. Fantastic.

Oh, good question. What my fans probably don’t know is that behind each of my productions, there is a story linked to my personal feelings and emotions experienced in that period during the production. I am influenced a lot by my mood and feelings, often conditioned by my relationship with Agata (my girlfriend). My productions are always inspired by her and our moments. In fact, many titles of my productions refer to a feeling, an emotion, felt during the production period of the track. She is my source of inspiration too, even if she doesn’t want me to be a DJ & Producer
